Calibration
The instrument is factory calibrated. It is recommended to calibrate after every ten measurements to maintain maximum accuracy, in practice longer intervals can be chosen. A calibration solution with an EC of 2.8 is used for calibration.
1. Immerse the electrode in the calibration solution.
2. Switch on the instrument and hold down the "CAL" button until "CAL" appears on the display. The display will show a flashing value of 2.8.
3. Wait until the instrument beeps and the display stops flashing. This completes the calibration. You can interrupt the calibration process at any time by pressing the "ON/OFF-READ.

Rinse the electrode with clean water before taking the next measurement.

Measurement
1. Remove the electrode cap.
2. Switch on the instrument by pressing the "ON/OFF-READ" button. The display will flash.
3. Immerse the electrode in the measurement solution and gently shake off any bubbles on the electrode.
4. Wait until the display stops flashing and the instrument beeps. You can now read the value. For further measurements, the instrument must be switched off and on.
5. The electrodes should be rinsed and dried thoroughly before and after each measurement. Allow the electrode to soak in distilled water for 15-30 minutes before storing the instrument for an extended period of time.

Handling the instrument
Do not store the instrument without a protective electrode cap - you will prolong the lifetime. The instrument is not intended for total immersion. For example, if you drop the instrument into a measurement solution, immediately pull it off and dry it thoroughly. Do not expose the instrument to high temperatures or leave it in direct sunlight.

Maintenance
Rinse the electrode with clean water after each measurement. This maintains the accuracy of the instrument and prevents salt deposits on the electrodes. If you are in doubt about the accuracy of the measurement, perform a test on the calibration solution. In case of deviation, perform a calibration. If the low battery symbol is displayed, approximately two hours of operation remain, but the accuracy of the instrument may already be affected.

Error message
If "Err" appears on the display during calibration, it means that you have used the wrong calibration solution. Make sure you are using the correct solution. If "Err" appears during calibration or measurement, it means that the instrument cannot measure a steady value. This may be caused, for example, by a strong electromagnetic field in the vicinity. To exit the error message, press "read" If "---" appears on the display during the measurement, it means that the measurement is out of range of the instrument. That is, the measured solution is too concentrated or the temperature is out of range. Rinse the electrodes with clean water and take measurements within 10ms(EC) and between 0 and 50°C. If the °C symbol appears in the lower right corner of the display, the temperature compensation system is not working properly. The instrument is designed for 25°C, when it measures most accurately.
