The machine is powered by a powerful, efficient and quiet 120W electrically powered motor and can be operated by a hand crank if required with an exceptionally light gear ratio (one turn of the crank means about a dozen turns of the blade) and does not need power. The size of the cutterbar allows what was usually thought of as kickback to be restored.

Using:
- place the biomass in the removable section covered with metal mesh
- put the lid back on and use the knob (when using the crank manually)
- the biomass starts to circle the mesh lid and gently rub against it (the mesh is made of tiny wires, which vibrate rapidly and shear the leaves that fall into the bottom container)
- for better effect, the cover should be pushed away from the mesh, followed by thicker knife cuts
