The pickling pin is used for transplanting grown ingredients from growing containers into the ground or pots or boxes.
Its shape is designed to create a hole in the soil into which the ingredient is transplanted - the larger diameter end of the pin is used for this purpose.
The thinner end is used to poke the ingredient out of the pot and then into the soil in which it is subsequently grown.
