Due to the activity of Biochar, a large number of nutrient molecules bind to its surface in proportion to its size. When they are slowly released to the plants, they balance the nutrient management in the soil.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Biochar charcoal is made from birch and spruce and undergoes rigorous testing and research with the aim of being used in cultivation media.

Due to its structure, Biochar offers a high ability to bind a significant amount of nutrients on its surface, thus allowing their gradual release to the plants and contributing to optimal nutrient management in the soil.

Biochar is a natural part of the ecosystem and in combination with added micro-organisms creates favourable conditions for plants to develop, grow and produce crops.

The optimum mix ratio of soil and Biochar is recommended to be 1:10, which means that 1 litre of Biochar per 10 litres of substrate should be used.

Biochar also helps to reduce soil acidity due to its alkaline nature (pH 10).

Improving soil structure
Biochar helps to improve soil structure, which facilitates the penetration of air, water and nutrients to the plants and promotes healthier growth.

Water retention
Due to its high active surface area, Biochar effectively retains water, helping plants in times of drought.
It can also absorb excess moisture, preventing soil waterlogging, which can be problematic for some plants.

Preventing mould and rot
Activated charcoal helps prevent mould and rot by absorbing excess moisture and preventing pathogens from developing.

Supports soil life
Biochar promotes the development of beneficial microorganisms in the soil, leading to natural regeneration and sustainability of the soil ecosystem.

Binding of pollutants
Biochar has the ability to bind pollutants and toxins in the soil, preventing them from entering the plants being grown.
For example, it can reduce heavy metals and chemicals, which is important for plant health.

Reducing the need for chemical fertilisers
The use of Biochar can reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers, which contributes to the protection of the environment and soil health.

Reducing odour and speeding up the composting process
Activated carbon can be used to eliminate unpleasant odours, for example in compost, and speeds up the composting process by 20%.
It absorbs unwanted odours and helps maintain the freshness of the composted material.

Product safety
Biochar is a natural, organic product that is not harmful to soil or plants. It is safe for long-term use and contains no artificial chemicals.
Using 1 kg of Biochar can reduce your carbon footprint by 2.7 kg of CO2.
